Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, has been celebrating its excellent outing at this year’s 24th Nigerian University Games ( NUGA) held in Ile-Ife, Osun State.


The institution hauled two gold, three silver and one bronze medals, placing it

13th , out of the 41 Universities that participated and  second among the 19 state and private owned universities that participated .


AAUA also emerged Overall Winner at the 2013 annual National Debate for Nigerian tertiary institutions, held at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.


Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Femi Mimiko, said the institution’s participation in sporting activities was not just for laurels but to show leadership qualities.  He expressed the University’s appreciation to the contingents to both events, saying they proved themselves to be good ambassadors of the institution. “ We appreciate both the sports contingent and the debaters for making the university proud. Yes, we placed 13th out of 41 universities that participated; and 2nd among the 19 states and private-owned universities that participated.  But as we have often said that our involvement in sporting activities is not directly related to the winning of laurels. The important thing is that we participated and displayed the leadership quality that your involvement in sporting activities provided”.
