Staging of the auto rally in the state in the last four years, has placed the state on global spotlight.
Furthermore, it has set a big boost for the hospitality business in the state.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, made this assertion while flagging off the 4th edition of the annual auto rally in Ilara Mokin, which has hosted the past three editions.
He said the event has equally increased investment in tourism and sports in the sunshine state.
According to Akeredolu, his administration will continue to create massive opportunities for the youth to be engaged in such a way that they will be a source of pride to the state and the country.
The rally has presented motor racers and bikers the opportunity to explore their talents and also bring out the beauty of auto race as a sport.
Akeredolu who thanked the organizers for hosting another edition in the state , noted that motor sports is recognized globally and Ondo state is proud to be part of it.
The governor who is on a two weeks leave, was represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Promoter of the 2021 Ondo auto rally, Mr Adeoye Ojuoko, thanked the State Government for an creating an enabling environment for motor sports to thrive.
He also commended government for giving the sports legislative backing, adding that this legal backing has made motor sports attractive to the youth.
Chairman, House committee on Information Youth and Sports Development, Mr Olugbenga Omole, congratulated the organizers for making this year’s rally a success.
The winner of the event who finished the race in 11 minutes 15 seconds, Augo Raak, called for more support for motor sports to make it more recognized like formula 1 in Europe.
