Power supply is expected to receive a boost in the state, with the expected commencement of the 1, 050 megawatts Independent Power Project ( IPP), in the first quarter of next year.
The projectis being undertaken by a South Korean firm, POSCO E & C , which has signed an Engineering , Procurement and Construction contract with the State Government.
The project to last 26 months, is broken into phases, with the first phase expected to generate 550 MW.
In order to ensure no hitches on the project, adequate funding has been secured .
The company will see to the design , EPC and commissioning and testing .
Approval has already been obtained from the Transmission Company of Nigeria for power evacuation.
