They arrived the farm located at Ilado village in Akure North local government area of the state, in the middle of the night, destroying maize worth millions of naira.
The herdsmen who were chased out of the farm by security operatives at the farm, had wreaked havoc before their hurried exit.
The policemen drafted to the farm shot into the air to drive away the herdsmen and their cows.
Personal Assistant to Chief Falae, Captain Moshood Raji (rtd), said the cows destroyed crops in the farm, adding that police escorts attached to the former minister scared them away with their warning shots.
“They attacked Baba’s (Falae) farm again and destroyed the crops worth millions of naira and we immediately reported to the police.”
Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, condemned the attack and called on the Federal Government to check the activities of the herdsmen, especially in the south-west region.
Publicity Secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin said, “we are aggrieved that the Federal Government has continued to turn the other eye while these Fulani herdsmen continue their murderous activities all over the country. We call on Federal Government to enforce law and order against these herdsmen while we called on the governors of the south-west to emulate the Ekiti State governor and ensure they put in place an appropriate law to deal with the activities of these herdsmen in the region.
