Feelers from the political circle indicate that Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi who recently lost the PDP gubernatorial ticket to Eyitayo Jegede is finalizing plans to move to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
According to undisclosed sources, the Deputy Governor’s move is part of his grand plan to actualize his governorship ambition, which has been denied him with the loss of the ticket to Jegede.
Former Governor Olusegun Mimiko,
the leader of the ZLP in the state is purportedly said to have endorsed Ajayi as the party’s governorship candidate.
Agboola Ajayi according to the strategy being planned, would replace the governorship candidate of the party, Rotimi Benjamin, whose name has been forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Such substitution is still allowed based on the timetable released by the commission.
Although INEC has cleared 17 parties for the election, it was expected to be a two-horse race between Mr Jegede of the PDP and incumbent governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
