In its eight years, the annual Jacob Abiloye Foundation Scholarship Award instituted to assist indigent students of Ondo State origin , a multi-million naira social intervention scheme instituted to empower youths and advance educational development in the state , has benefited over 500 undergraduates from Ipe, Isua, Ifira, Sosan and Epinmi communities in Akoko South -East Area of the state in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The scholarship scheme has significantly impacted and brought progress to Akoko land and given hope to a lot of families.
On the annual scholarship award scheme, Chairman, Mart Signature Limited, Mr. Abiloye, who instituted the scheme on behalf of his father, Chief Jacob Abiloye, said that he chose education as the vehicle to impact the society because of its limitless powers.
On the qualifying criteria, Mr. Abiloye said students only need to demonstrate their inability to draw financial support to enable them benefit from the scheme. Also brilliance and commitment to academic excellence which would be evidenced by the quality of their academic performance, .
In the past eight years, Jacob Abiloye Foundation has spent over N25 million on its annual scholarship scheme. This year’s edition will gulp N3 million, with each of the 100 beneficiaries collecting N30, 000.
In addition, books worth N2 million would be donated to neighbouring secondary schools to encourage the reading culture .
