The State Government has paid the sum of N7.5b to contractors handling various road projects inherited from the immediate past administration.
Speaking at Oka-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state in continuation of his campaign, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, said verifiable development had earned his administration the support of the people. He noted that Ondo people are too sophisticated to be governed by a new comer, adding that opposition parties were merely wasting their time. He promised them a thorough trouncing in the forthcoming election, as his government had delivered on its electioneering promises.
The governor regretted that it was a taboo in Yoruba land, for anybody to be dancing with brooms as a political party is currently doing, stating that the custom is to dance with horsetails and not broom.
The Governor denied that the huge crowd at his rallies are rented, noting that the overwhelming support by an appreciative people, was sending shivers down his opponents spines.
The Governor inaugurated an ultra modern market of 264 open stores and 92 lock-up stores at OkaAkoko; health centres at Akowonjo, Igbo Egun and Iwaro-Oka, where he also commissioned a town hall.
He equally welcomed over five thousand (5000) new members from the opposition parties to the Labour Party, while assuring them of equal opportunities.
