The National Judicial Council has dismissed a petition filed against Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Olaseinde Kumuyi.
It described the petition as having no substance and threw it out. It further stated that the error noticed on the oath papers, was not enough for any action to be taken on the Chief Judge.
A Legal Practitioner, Femi Emodamori, had petitioned the Council that the Chief Judge abused his office by directing the Attorney – General / Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, to administer the oath of office on the Deputy Governor, Lasisi Oluboyo.
The petitioner had reacted with surprise that the same Council that had said his petition speaks for itself and had given the Chief Judge 14 days to respond, could turn round to dismiss it.
According to him, I stated in the petition that Justice Kumuyi deliberately or willfully issued a fake public certificate claiming to be the person who administered the oath of allegiance and oath of office on the Deputy Governor, thereby committing a felony, contrary to and punishable under Section 105 of the Criminal Code Act”.
Emodamori stated further thathe exhibited photographs and video recordings showing that it was the Ondo State attorney – General / Commissioner for Justice that administered the oath.
