Chief Johnson Jegede, the father of the state Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) and the patriarch of the Jegede family of Akure, who passed on Saturday 1st February, 2014 at the age of 88, has been laid to rest.

The funeral ceremonies were almost like a state event as it attracted political bigwigs from diverse parties, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, members of the State Executive Council, Top government functionaries, members of the bench and bar among others.

Late Chief Jegede an administrator began his career in the old western region before retiring as a Produce Officer in old Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He was the Odopetu of Isikan Akure, as well as the Treasurer of Akure Anglican Diocese under the leadership of Retired Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi.

The late Jegede is survived by Dr. Jide and Mrs Folusho Esho, Mrs Mojisola Alex-Adedipe, Comrade and Mrs. Olugbenga Jegede, Lion and Lion Mrs. Tokunbo Jegede, General Manager of Orange FM Akure and District Governor, Lions Club International, District 404A1 Nigeria.

Others are Barrister Eyitayo (SAN) and Eno Jegede, the Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olawale and Bunmi Jegede of Fidelity Bank Plc, Elder Kimo and Pastor Mrs Bunmi Erebor and Barristers Demola and Vera Ekundayo, many grandchildren and great Grand Children
