Ondo State Football Association Electoral Committee, has fixed elections of Local Government Football Councils for March 18 this year while that of the Executive Committee of the State Football Association is slated for March 25.

Inauguration of the Committee by the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF ),  paved the way for the release of guidelines that will ensure a free, fair and acceptable election.

Chairman of the Election Committee, Sir Steve Alabi, who made this known while interacting with pressmen, said the election of the eighteen local government football councils will hold simultaneously at a central venue in Akure.

He disclosed that eligible candidates for the post of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of Ondo FA,  must have been involved in football management and administration for a period of 3-4 years preceding the date of the election.

He noted that candidates must possess a minimum educational qualification of school certificate, three years tax clearance, be solvent and must have been nominated by Ondo FA and its affiliates.

On the method to be adopted for the elections , he said it will be by open secret ballot and for a person to be elected, a simple majority of the votes recorded and valid is necessary in the first ballot.

Sir Steve Alabi made it known that delegates will have one vote each , as aspirants to be elected into the position of Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee , must score the majority of votes cast in the election.

He said forms can be obtained from the Secretary, Electoral Committee, Ondo State Football Association at the sports complex in Akure, as from  Monday 8th February.

The sale of the form will close on the 12th of this same month.

He appealed to aspirants to desist from any campaign of calumny, character assassination and blackmail or other electoral vices, noting that the date of the election is subject to review.

The Electoral Committee Chairman gave his Committee’s resolve to carry all stakeholders along in all its activities.
