The State Government has given out the sum of N9, 800, 000.00 to wives of serving soldiers, as well as widows of fallen soldiers and Apalara champions.
(Eighty 80) women benefitted from the government gesture, with N5.450m, going to widows of fallen heroes.
Chairman, Micro Credit Agency, Chief Mrs. Kosemaani Kolawole, explained that this year’s disbursement was a bit different from the previous years, due to the magnanimity of the governor not to limit support fund to only wives of fallen heroes but to also celebrate the living ones.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is marked annually as a day for all citizens to remember military personnel who died in the course of duty.
It is equally a day for all to reflect on the pains of war and resolve to avert its causes.
In the usual practice of Celebration, the Government and other top officials of all three Arms of government laid wreaths in honour of the fallen soldiers while there was the march past by military personnel and members of the Nigerian Legion.
