Ondo State Government has spent the sum of  N165 million on the retraining of over 6,466 teachers, including Junior Secondary School teachers, under the TPD programme in the last three years.

In addition, a total of 4,670 teachers were promoted within the same period.

State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman, Mrs Oladuuni Odu, stated that government was converting officers with education background from the state civil service and the local government service to primary school teachers, in order to boost the sector.

She expressed government’s willingness to employ more teachers and non-teaching staff into public schools across the state.
