Ondo State Trauma and Surgical Centre has recorded medical feats with the performance of 3,000 surgeries and 2,400 dialyses at the kidney Care Centre within 20 months ( March 2014 – November 2015.
The Centre which has been receiving patients from Ghana and the United States of America, has recorded 1, 000 new cases.
The second largest of its kind in the country, the centre has so far performed 50 spine surgeries, 350 plastic surgeries, over 1,000 Ophthalmology, 800 Ortho, 100 ENT, 100 neuro and over 400 general surgeries among others.
It has equally screened over 3,000 indigenes of the state through its Community Screening Programme.
The Centre is one of the medical improvements brought to the state by the Mimiko administration. Others are the purchase of mobile ambulances which are stationed in strategic locations in the state for swift emergencies, establishment of the medical village, inauguration of the Ondo State Medical University , the ultra modern Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic Centre, Ondo, purchase and installation of ultra modern medical equipment and installation in medical facilities across the state, among others.
