Deputy Governor denies sale of club

Players of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure,  have embarked on a peaceful street protest of salary arrears.

According to the players who marched on the street to make their demands to government,  they are owed salary arrears and life has been difficult for them.

Placards displayed had numerous inscriptions including, “Pay Our Salaries Mr. Governor,” Save Sunshine Stars Mr. Governor, Don’t Sell Our Club “.

They equally frowned at plans by the State Government to sell the club.

Deputy Governor,  Lucky Aiyedatiwa however denied the alleged plot to sell the state-owned football club.

 Addressing players and officials of the football club , at the gate of the Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, he  denied the alleged plan to sell the football club, noting that such a thing could not be done without carrying all stakeholders along.

He, therefore appealed to the protesters to calm down, promising that their agitations would be attended to.
