Ondos in the Southern District of the state, have expressed joy at the recent appointment of Mrs Oladunni Odu as the first female Secretary to the State Government.
According to them, the appointment showed that the Akeredolu administration is a promoter of gender equality.
They therefore urged him to have this in mind as he constitutes his cabinet.
While rejoicing with women in the State , over what it described as a remarkable recognition of their invaluable worth and capacity, they admonished the new SSG to justify the confidence reposed in Ondo women and prove that what men can do, women can do better and further use it as a stepping stone to taking women to the highest office in the state sooner than later.
The Ondo southerners also commended the courageous and historic decision of Akeredolu on the menace and aggression by killer-herders in the state, adding that they were impressed by the governor’s decision not to play politics with the lives of his people , as was done by some of his colleagues and at the risk of an uncomplimentary reaction by the presidency in Abuja.
They enjoined him, “not to waiver or look back in the implementation of the state’s anti-herders’ aggression policy “.
They assured him of their support and vowed to mobilise people, especially those from Southern Ondo to support him and his administration.
