The 225 Oba – Ile housing estate located at Ondo road, Akure, N50mOndo road mechanic village and caring heart garage, have been commissioned by the State Government.
The housing estate project which was completed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement had as partner, Messrs Locke Holmes, which provided financial support while government made land available, with general infrastructure, including tarred road network, water and power supply and security. Allottees cutting across different social strata, have subscribed to all units.
Commissioner for Land and Housing, s Dr Bade Omolaja, explained that ongoing road construction on the expressway, was delaying the laying of water pipes for water supply to the estate, which currently relies on boreholes as source of water supply.
The N50m Ondo road Mechanic Village, a pilot has also been completed. It is expected to be replicated at Ondo, Okitipupa, Owo and other towns in the state. The village boasts of 80 units of workshops, referred to as “bush bars”. Each bar is designed to accommodate four vehicles simultaneously and has attached mechanic, electrical technician, panel beater and other trades. There are also other facilities as bathrooms, toilets, canteen, administrative block, painters workshop, car wash among others. A spare parts block has also been constructed opposite the village.
The projects represent integral parts of the Akure Township Redevelopment Plan.
Meanwhile, government is set to commence the construction of two new housing estates at Oda road and Ilekun in Akure.
