Angry youths have protested the multiple deaths cause by a Dangote Cement truck that rammed into shops by the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, gate, killing hordes of students.
The irate youths barricaded highways into the town, Akungba and adjoining towns, as they mourned the deceased.
Five of the victims were students of the university while the rest were passers by, eye witnesses recalled.
The crash which occurred at 4 pm on the fateful day, claimed the life of a former President of the Student Union of the school, Adesomoju Samuel, three siblings and another student.
Adesomoju who was popularly called Sam Praise, a 500 Level Law student of the university, Ojinni Oluwaseun, a 300 Level student of Business Administration and her cousins, Ojinni Kelvin and Ojinni Ayokunle who were said to be in their final year and another student were crushed to death with some artisans and shop owners.
Acting Unit Commander, Ikare Akoko Unit of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Kabiru Muhammed , said nine dead bodies were recovered from the scene while nine others who were injured were taken to the General Hospital, Iwaro Oka and the Federal Medical Centre, Owo for medical attention.
