On his first official visit to correctional centres in the state, Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Williams Akintoroye, granted pardon to 18 inmates serving jail terms.

The freed inmates were at the centres serving major and minor offences as murder, rape, conspiracy, etc.

Justice Akintoroye granted pardon to both Awaiting Trial Inmates (ATM) and the convicted inmates (CM).

He urged the pardoned inmates to be of good conduct because they regained what he termed priceless freedom.

The Chief Judge tasked staff of the correctional centres to always ensure safety of all the custodial centres and facilities therein.

Controller of Corrections in the state, Mr Opeyemi Fatinikun, thanked the Chief Judge for his visit and gave the assurance that his men were on alert to forestall any attack on the correctional facilities.
