KFC of Okitipupa lifted the 2012 Olu Bajowa/TIYEC football competition, held in Okitipupa.
The club defeated Sarah Joe FC of Ilutitun, by 2 goals to 1, in the 90minutes record breaking and sizzling match.
The duo of Adeniyi Tunde and Taye Gbaluwe , displayed their best of performance and this saw them finding the net at different intervals in the course of the match. The first goal for KFC came in the twentieth minute while their winning goal came in the 35th minute of the second half. Omodara Bolu of Sarah Joe FC of Ilutitun hit the back of the net in the 40th minute of the second half.
The sponsor, Gen Olu Bajowa ( Rtd), who was represented by Otunba Benson Akindeju, expressed appreciation for the can-do spirit of the finalists. He made it clear his interest in sports is to help Ikale youths aspiring to the peak of their footballing career and promised not to wane in this challenge. He disclosed that, “As a boy, I loved sports, as a military officer, I played sports and now as retired public officer I am committed to the promotion of sports, particularly football. I feel highly encouraged by my State, Ondo State, for being counted, in the field of sports both at national and international levels. It is significant

to state with pride and satisfaction that TIYEC/OLU BAJOWA Football Competition had contributed to the success and glory of Ondo State Sun Shine Football Team.”
The competition , held annually for the past twelve years, is organized to coincide with the General’s birthday and Boxing Day, December 26th.
Cash gifts were presented to outstanding players . These include, Segun Betiku – Most Valuable Player , Kukoyi Idowu, Best Goal Keeper and Abodi FC Ikoya, Best Behaved Team.
A notable sport personality / analyst, Elder Segun Oronla said the Bajowa competition is the best thing to happen to Ikale. He said aside the fact that youths like football, the Bajowa league has projected a lot of young footballers of Ikale origin both nationally and internationally, “Akin Ogunboye was one of ours who now plays for Rising Star FC; Tunde Adeniyi plays for Sunshine and Iyanu Ogunboye plies his trade in Malaysia, all courtesy of the Bajowa sponsored football competition,” Mr. Adebiyi Adegorioye, Chairman Okitipupa Football Council, thanked the donor and charged the youths not to rest on their oars in their bid to reach the pinnacle of their footballing career. He urged them to imbibe the culture of discipline and fair play. Adegorioye also called on the sponsor to look into the possibility of starting the competition early, in October or November.
