The State Government in another strategy aimed at exposing and pushing out criminals disguising as herdsmen, has ordered the immediate clearing of bushes along highways in the state.
Government, adopting another security strategy, had earlier given herdsmen a seven day ultimatum to vacate forest reserves in the state.
This move has generated immense controversies between the State and Federal Governments, as well as other Nigerians.
According to the State Government, the bushes in communities contribute to insecurity, as it’s in these bushes that the criminals hide to kidnap unsuspecting travellers.
Government’s move was taken at the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, told newsmen hounds that the decision was intended to counter increasing cases of kidnapping and crimes in the state.
Flanked by the Commissioner for Information and Orientatio, Donald Ojogo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Raheem Aminu and the Acting Commissioner for Health, Jibayo Adeyeye, she explained that it had become very important for government to clear the bushes and protect the lives of its people.
